Tourist Visa 

Applicants of tourist visa for Nepal can apply for the tourist visa at this Embassy every working day (Monday – Friday) during consular hours from 09:30 am to 03:00 pm except public holidays. (Click Public Holidays)

Documents Required For Passport Holders:

  • Original passport with at least 6 months’ validity period and its copy
  • One recent passport-size photograph (2”X2” size)
  • Duly filled in and signed visa application form (download visa application form here)
  • You are required to submit in person or mail all the documents in a 9”X12” size envelope with tracking number. An additional self-addressed (with full name and address of the applicant) prepaid return envelope with tracking number must be included along with the application to send the documents back to your address. The Embassy will not be responsible for the loss and damage of any documents while Toing and Froing, any undelivered passports because of insufficient postage, a weak envelope to bear up the load and other incidents occurred during handling of the documents by postal office/courier. Prepaid return envelope is not required for self-pick-up.

  • Original travel document with at least 6 months validity period and its copy
  • One recent passport-size photograph (2”X2” size)
  • Duly filled in and signed visa application form
  • Self-signed sponsorship letter by a Nepali national
  • A copy of the citizenship certificate of the sponsor
  • You are required to submit in person or mail all the documents in a 9”X12” size envelope with tracking number. An additional self-addressed (with full name and address of the applicant) prepaid return envelope with tracking number must be included along with the application to send the documents back to your address. The Embassy will not be responsible for the loss and damage of any documents while Toing and Froing, any undelivered passports because of insufficient postage, a weak envelope to bear up the load and other incidents occurred during handling of the documents by postal office/courier. Prepaid return envelope is not required for self-pick-up.

Application Procedure:

Applicants can submit documents for visa and collect their passports in person or through their agents/representatives.

Processing Time:

It takes 4 business days for the issuance of a tourist visa. Applicants may collect their passport with visa stamped on them after four working days within the consular hours, i.e. 02:00 pm to 04:00 pm.

Visa upon Arrival:

Nationals of most of the countries of the world can also obtain tourist visa upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, or other entry points via land. However, the nationals of the following countries cannot obtain visa upon arrival: Nigeria, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and Syria. For more information, please visit the website of Department of Immigration in Nepal: www.nepalimmigration.gov.np

Visa Fees:

Children below 10 years of age obtain visa free of charge. For all others the following visa fees is applicable. Revenue fees is sent in the form of money order with at least one year’s validity period payable to the Embassy of Nepal, with the full name and address of the applicant written on it.

Note: No personal cheque, cash or credit card are acceptable.

15 days Multiple Entry Visa     $ 25/-

Points to be remembered while applying for tourist visa:

  1. Visa once issued cannot be withdrawn and visa fee cannot be refunded. It must be used within 6 months from the date of issue.
  2. Tourist carrying more than 5000.00 US Dollars or equivalent foreign currency is requested to declare in the Custom Declaration Form at the time of arrival in Nepal. Those returning from Nepal with undeclared money exceeding US Dollars 5000.00 or equivalent currency may be interrogated for further legal actions in accordance with Foreign Exchange Regulations Act of Nepal.
  3. Tourist traveling by car should possess a valid Passage de Carnet.
  4. Tourist Visa may also be obtained at any of the following entry points:
