    About the Embassy

The Embassy of Nepal in Washington, D. C. was set up in 1958 following the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States of America on 25 April 1947. Nepal's first residential ambassador to the United States was Mr. Rishikesh Shah who served between 1958 and 1961. Until then, Nepal's Ambassadors to the United Kingdom used to be concurrently accredited to the United States as well.

The Embassy is located at 2131 Leroy Place N. W. Washington D.C.

Working hours: The Embassy opens between 9:00am and 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. However for visas, passports and various other attestations, authentication and certifications of documents and other miscellaneous services, the following working hours are designated:

Application submission time - 10 to 12 in the morning.
    Pick-up time - 3 to 4.30 in the afternoon.

The application processing time would vary depending upon the volume of applications. Normally, it takes 7 business days to process any document after the application is received. These timings don't apply to those services, which have to be referred to Nepal Government in Kathmandu and necessary approval is required.

The Embassy observes US federal holidays as well as some of the major national holidays of Nepal.
